It's not everyday we hear about a plane crash in the news. Although, probability of emergencies are always low, we cannot deny the chances of being in a situation to fall from an aircraft without a parachute, intentionally or accidentally. But, can you survive a fall without a parachute? Is it 100% sure that he/she won't be able to make it alive?
With no trials and theoretical knowledge from the best sources, a conjecture has been brought up. In case you fall without a parachute from an aircraft, look for water body. You will be travelling at a speed of more than 200kmph. Also, you'll just have 60 seconds from a height of 12000 feet to make your decision and steer your body towards the place you want to land.
The foremost question here is - where to land? Find a water body ASAP! Survival chances are more than 95% if one land in a water body with a depth of 12 feet or more. The landing will definitely cost you some heavy injuries, but it is going to save your life. In case you can't find water body, try to look for places covered with heavy fresh snow. The fresh snow can act as a good resistance and better than bare land for your landing.
Fun fact : A person from World War II survived a jump without parachute from a height of 18000 feet. He fell through branches of pine tress in a dense copse and landed on snow.
The problem here arises of probability of getting hurt by the branches. Falling at a speed of 200kmph is definitely going to break many branches but as the speed slows, any hard branch could pierce through any parts of the body. Hence, this measure is not at all safe.
