The creatures of the dark, who kept people shivering for ages, are consistent in forming up debates on their existence. Numerous incidents and serial deaths in the same area did give a motion of existence of these creatures. Yet, no one have seen them today. Their were many eyewitnesses in the 16th century who claimed that the dead has rose and killed the mortals, especially in European countries. Was it really vampires or just misconceptions?
Vampires in the past centuries
People in 16th and 17th century used to claim after 2-3 days of burial of the dead, they rose in greed of blood in the night, hunt and kill the mortals by drying each and every drop of their blood and before dawn, go back to sleep in the graves. Many priests and investigators tried to find out what really happened. Many of them use to pen down their experiences in journals. It is said that they plagued many European countries like Hungary, Romania and Transylvania.
Real Vampires?
Not just Vlad - the Impaler, Julia Stone, Carmilla or Elizabeth Bathory, but unpopular people are recorded to be vampires too. Peter Plogojowitz of Slavia(1725) and Arnold Paole(1727) are some of the common people who became vampires. Arnold Paole's case affected the whole village and even the authorities were involved. It is undoubtedly scary.
In India, our very own betaal from "Vikram and Betaal" is said to be a vampire. Whoa!
How they meet their true death…
Vampires are said to be immortal but their is a loophole to end them. If you ever come across a vampire, be sure to grab a stake and pierce it through his heart. Sprinkling holy water and binding with garlic may work. In many recorded cases, the heart is tore out and the body is burnt.
Vampires today
The vampires of the 21st century claims to feed energy from people rather than sucking their veins out. But for who does drink blood, consent of their feeder is important to them. They maybe donors or their partners.
Many people get fangs attached permanently. In America alone, almost 5000 vampires are stated to be living. They make associations, host parties and balls. Truly interesting!
